Going Green

There are so many people that want to do good in the world now. I hate to say it, but our world has become very filthy and completely unhealthy. With all of the litter, pollution, and unsafe air – it’s a shock that we’re still living on this world. But the thing is, people wear peace sign shirts, wear shirts that have to do with going green, and they do nothing to help the planet. It’s a sad thing if you ask me. I try my best to do little things to help, because every little bit counts. There are so many ways you can help our planet by even changing some of the things you do.

In my home, we recycle as much as we can; we recycle all plastics and cans we consume, we do other things like buy organic products and try to help out. We don’t just throw our trash on the sidewalk – we use the trashcan at all times, and we don’t take too long of showers. There are a lot of other things people, including us could do though. You can change all your light bulbs and install compact fluorescent light bulbs; you can always use cold water when washing your clothes, and instead of driving your car everywhere and spending gas – you can easily get on your bike and ride somewhere. Or even walk. There are so many other ways to go green too. We all just need to think about what we’re doing, and learn about different ways to help out.

In my opinion, people are just getting more and more lazy everyday. We need to start doing things and start changing things. There are so many easy ways to help the planet and none of us are doing anything about it. We wear shirts that symbolize peace, going green, and saving the planet; but we don’t actually do any of it.

In conclusion, I think that we really need to start making some major changes. This world is going in the gutter; and we can change that. We have the power to do anything if we set our minds to it. All we need is a little change, because right now our world is not even safe around us. That way when people do go and buy the shirts that symbolize peace and recycling, we’ll actually mean it. And wear it with pride. We all want to make change happen, but there’s a huge difference in wanting and doing.

Cellphones and Driving

More and more people are getting into major car accidents from such a minor piece of technology; our cell phones. I personally think that using a cell phone, in any way while driving is not a good idea. When you are focused on that, you aren’t paying too much attention to the road. Causing accidents. People could easily die over such a little thing like making a phone call on the road. But there are some times where they really do come in handy and we do need them. But overall, I do think it’s a dumb idea that I think should have a law against it.

A few states already have passed the law against using your cell phone while driving. And I’m glad about it. In my opinion, we need more states to pass the law too; including Delaware. It’s just so dangerous; because, when you are texting one of your friends, or someone from your family back; not only do you have to take your eyes off the road, you have to take at least one of your hands off the wheel. And let’s not forget a major thing you have to take off from the road, which is your focus. If you’re too focused on what you’re typing when you text, you wont know what’s going on, on the road. All of those things can cause an accident. I would say that making a phone call would be a better than texting, but then again; it still takes away your focus. The only thing that compensates for it is the fact you can have both hands on the wheel.

I’m not completely against it, but I just think it’s a very dangerous. Maybe it could start out small, by simply banning just texting while you’re driving. And then slowly reach out and try to ban phone calling. Even having those hand-free cell phones that hook up to your car would be better. I think it would just be best if they did something about it and soon.

Cell phones are actually a very important thing. And some people think by taking them away, just because you’re driving is dumb. Some also think that this kind of thing isn’t really important. But to tell the truth, it’s a very important thing. Nobody likes getting in car accidents, and nobody likes getting hurt. You could easily take someone’s life in a blink of an eye. It’s a scary thing if you think about it. I understand that sometimes you almost need your cell phone in the car. Because what if you’re an adult that has children home alone, and they need to call you because something very bad has happened? That would be the downside to all of this. But like I said, if they made hand-free cell phone usage legal, that would help too. It would probably decrease the rate of accidents too.

Overall, I think that using your cell phone in the car is a very bad; yet good thing. I do think more states should take this more into consideration than they have been. It has it’s upsides and downsides, but if you take a look at the whole picture, I think it would make it a lot safer on the road if we minimize something even as little as this.

Facebook

Computers have become a huge part of a lot of people’s life anymore. Many are signing up for new things everyday, making their own websites, chatting online, checking emails, making YouTube videos – you name it. But recently, people are really getting into Facebook.

Facebook all started with a Harvard University sophomore named Mark Zuckerberg. It started out as a version of “Hot or not” called Facemash. He was blogging about a girl to get his mind of off things. The site was quickly forwarded too many campus group list-servers, and it was shut down a few days later by Harvard administration. Zuckerberg was charged with breach of security, violating copyrights and violating individual privacy. But the charges were soon dropped. The next semester, Zuckerberg founded “The Facebook”, and it was originally located at thefacebook.com on February 4, 2004. Within the first month, more than half of the undergraduate population at Harvard University registered on to this service. It grew very fast, even Apple Inc. and Microsoft became a member. On September 26, 2006 everyone 13 years of age and older with a valid e-mail address could join.

My opinion; Facebook isn’t just for teenagers, and kids. It has become a website for all ages; adults have them, teachers, and even celebrities. It’s unbelievable how Facebook has changed and intrigued people to join. I think that Facebook is fun, useful, and a great way to keep in touch with people. Many agree with me. It’s a very useful site and can soon become very addicting! People are finding new ways to communicate everyday, and this happens to be a very easy and fun way. I, myself, have a Facebook and I love it. I sign in almost everyday, and chat with my friends. It’s not too hard to get used to either. Trust me, if you sign up – I guarantee you’ll love it. I think Facebook is just getting better and better everyday.

It’s a simple sign up, and it’s such a great website. You can connect with people all over the world; you can find people that you haven’t heard from in a very long time, start new friendships, and keep up with celebrities. You can do so many things on this website such as, updating your status. Telling people what’s going on with you at the moment. You can private message people, you can chat with people on “their wall”, you can comment and “like” other people’s status. The list is just endless when it comes to all the applications they have! You can take quizzes, and post them. Put pictures of you and your friends up – and the best part is, it’s all so safe and private if you make your page that way.

In conclusion, Facebook is a really great website. I absolutley love it. It can do so many things, and you can really have alot of fun on it. There's always something to do and someone to talk to - usually! It has grown so popular over the years, and I doubt the site will ever be taken down.

The Real World

Features article:
The Real World is a reality television program on MTV. Their first broadcast was in 1992 and is the longest running show in MTV's history. The show is about bringing together seven or eight strangers whom are different genders, age, race, have different sexual orientations, etc. They audition to live for several months in a house with each other, while cameras record their every move. The seven or eight people are around the age 18 - 25, and once they audition different people (who had auditioned) are randomly picked across the country. Now that you know a little bit about the show, I'll tell you what I think.
I love The Real World; although I do love most reality TV shows. Every episode will surprise you and want to keep you watching. Some people think the show is all about sex, drinking, and drugs and hate the show because of it. But I don't really think that's what its all about, nor the message they're trying to get across. The show is showing the mistakes people make and some of them do involve things like that, but from watching it you could learn yourself if you took the time to actually pay attention to what's going on.
It a very good show and is probably going to be playing for a very long time to come. I try to always keep up with every season, and I enjoy watching it every time it's on. The only downfall is that it does come on a little late, so then I have to wait for the re-runs of the episodes to come on. But it’s not that bad. I recommend people to take the time to watch it one time, you might really like it. Give it a chance. You'll never know until you try it!

Robotic Babies?!

April Fools Article:

Yes. It is true. There is a brand new invention out there that will cure loneliness, and something you can have some fun with. Robotic babies. Also known as “Robo-Babies”. This new invention took months of hard work and concentration and it is finally selling in stores. It’s weird to think you can buy robotic babies. Don’t you think? Well it is actually a very nice thing indeed. I have bought one myself, and boy she’s a handful!

These Robo-Babies are pretty much the exact replica of an actual baby. And it’s not one of those silly kid toys. It is just like a living baby, and you need to take good care of it. Which includes all the fun stuff; changing diapers, feeding, bathing, and burping! Oh and don’t worry, their waterproof. You can play with it; take a walk with it in the stroller, whatever you like. Want to re-live babies first steps? Well this baby can also learn by you how to walk and talk. And if you have pets, this baby can get along with any pet you have, and your pet is guaranteed to like it! It will fit into the family immediately. I know mine did.

This is no lie. Some celebrities were even talking about buying one for them. Britney Spears quotes: “I’d love to have another!” I even saw for myself a few of them holding the babies. And all the people I’ve talked to on the street about it did nothing but ask where to get them. In a few months from now, everyone will have a robotic baby. I can just see it now. So don’t miss out.

Should Tobacco be Outlawed?

That would be the question. Should tobacco really be outlawed? I personally think that it should be. Especially cigarettes. They are dangerous in many ways not just because they severely damage your body in many ways. But that it affects the people around the person smoking the cigarette. There is no good thing about smoking and why people start I do not know. Even though there can be multiple reasons, it’s always a bad decision. To me, tobacco is useless and should be made Illegal.

If you really think about it, there’s nothing good about tobacco. It is a drug that is VERY harmful. It’s addicting and life threatening. So many things can happen to you if you start smoking and using tobacco. You age more rapidly, your teeth turn yellow, and it could cause wrinkles and make you have very strong smelling breath. Trust me, that is not a good thing! Not only can it cause changes to your body that you can see, but it affects inside your body as well. Such as Your lungs, esophagus, throat and even your heart. It can also sometimes cause cancer. Now why would you want to buy something like that?

But really, why would people want to sell things that can shorten your life span? Or could give you terrible diseases? The only reason that I can think of is obvious. To make money, but there are many other ways to make money that aren’t harmful to people. They can think of other ways. Not to blame it all on the people that sell them, because the people that makes them are to blame too. Not only are them, the consumers are to blame too. They could make the choice themselves not to buy it, but if it wasn’t out in the first place, that would probably help a lot.

So I hope whoever reads this gets my point. Smoking is one of the worst possible things you could do to your body. Don’t start, why take the risk? I seriously think that tobacco should be outlawed. Think about it the next time you pick up That cancer stick. (;

Editorial.

Euthanasia. Good or bad?

Euthanasia refers to ending a life in a painless matter; and literally means, “good death” in ancient Greek. It is debated all over. I think it is perfectly ethical to use it, and I completely believe in it. Why would want someone to go through so much pain, when they can be put to ease quickly? The process doesn’t hurt the person, and I think it’s just better in the long run. Many people think that it is not their call to put someone else’s life to an end; but if you’re helping someone, why have a second guess?

Many patients before have asked their doctor, or nurse, to just stop taking care of them so they can die. If that person has a life long disease, or sever illness, they’re going to want to be put to death sooner or later. Because why go through all the pain, and suffering? And why let your family members grieve for so long? Just imagine if you had to see someone you love suffer, everyday, because of a life long disease they had. Would you really want to see them that way? Or would you just want make it easier on everyone, and just let him or her end all the suffering? Society argues not just people, but that doctors shouldn’t be the ones to have the choice if whether or not someone lives or dies, and that it is up to god to determine when one of his creations time has come, but the thing is; it’s sometimes the patient telling them to stop treatment. So they shouldn’t blame everything on the doctors, and people. Because they probably are doing what they think is best, or what is simply asked of them.

The process of Euthanasia is simple, and painless to him or her. There are a few options of what can be done. It can either be given in a drug, orally, through a vein, or in a muscle. Or, there is always oxygen deprivation. For the ones that cannot swallow lethal doses of medication, giving it to them through a vein would be more preferred. Through the vein is the most reliable and fastest way to complete euthanasia on the patient. This may sound very inhumane, but it is very quick so the person feels no pain whatsoever.

I’m for euthanasia 100%. I don’t think it’s right to let someone suffer like that. I know they also use it on animals too, which I think is fine. Just like you hopefully wouldn’t want to let a human suffer, why would you want a harmless animal to? I personally think it’s inhumane to NOT use euthanasia when someone is in a great deal of pain. I would want to do everything in my power to help, especially if it was a family member or someone I love.
